We recently sat down for an interview with Bill and Melissa Ginn, owners of Presto Air, LLC in North Port, FL. During our interview, we had a chance to learn a bit about how they feel about their business, what it feels like on their best day as business owners and the kind of hard working attitude they expect their employees to have.
HVAC is very specialized. What steps did you take to acquire the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
Bill Ginn: We are still learning every day!
Were there ever times that you wanted to give up? If so, how did you overcome it?
Melissa Ginn: Yes. We just keep thinking that we’ve come this far, we can’t give up now.
What is the biggest challenge when it comes to running an HVAC business?
Bill Ginn: The ups and downs of the work load.
How about the biggest surprise?
Melissa Ginn: How fast my bank account empties!
How about disappointments? Have there been any big ones?
BIll Ginn: Managing employees has been the biggest challenge.
How about the most rewarding part of it all?
Bill Ginn: Helping people!
Can you tell us about your best day as a business owner?
Melissa Ginn: When at the end of the day, we can say that we got all the right things done, and there will be steady work for the foreseeable future.
Are you where you thought you would be at this point in time?
Bill Ginn: Some days! HVAC is a hard business to have.
How has technology and the internet impacted how you conduct your business?
Melissa Ginn: Seven out of ten people find us on the internet.
Finally, do you have any employees? If so, what is your management style?
Bill Ginn: Yes! Our style is work hard, get paid well. Don’t work hard, you don’t work here!
